How do I recommend a product? |

Recommend and Earn with WeAreTeachers. How the recommendation system works!
You may have used a product successfully in your teaching profession. If so, you want to share your expert recommendation with peers, parents, learners—or the general public. If that product is in our database, and we have a business relationship with the company that sells it, you have an opportunity to write a review and recommendation. Here is how it works.
- First, be sure you are LOGGED IN as a WeAreTeachers (WAT) member. Only registered WAT members can participate in this program.
- Next, be sure you have an active PayPal™ Merchant account. We utilize PayPal as our transaction and payment tool.
- Use the WeAreTeachers Search tool to find a product you would like to recommend. From the pull down menu on the left, select 'products.' Then type a keyword to display the results of the kind of product you are seeking.
- From the search results, you'll see a list of products. On the right side of each listing, you'll see options to [Buy Now], [View Marketplace] or [Recommend]. If you want to see other products from the particular company [View Marketplace] will take you to the complete listing from that vendor. If you want to go ahead and recommend a particular product, click the [Recommend] link.
- Once you click [Recommend], you will go to a screen that lets you type your recommendation. Be specific. Be creative! Let people know why you love this product, how you use it in your teaching environment, how it makes a difference for learners. Then be sure and fill in the key word section with all the words that a learner or buyer or another teacher might use in a search. The more descriptive you are, and the more key words you include—the greater the likelihood that someone will want to purchase based on your recommendation.
- When you click [Save], your recommendation and this product listing appears in your very own WeAreTeachers Marketplace. If you click on the picture icon for this product, you'll see a broader description from the vendor. You'll also see options to modify your recommendation, or to delete your recommendation.
- You might consider developing a lesson plan or other supporting original material to support this recommendation. Remember, you can create your own content in your marketplace, and sell that as well!
- Once a buyer reads your recommendation and chooses to purchase from your expert advice, WeAreTeachers tracks that transaction. You will be compensated 10% of the sales price, based on your recommendation being selected by the buyer. Every 30 days, the WAT system accumulates these transactions. Once you accumulate $50, we will automatically deposit your compensation via PayPal into your PayPal account.
*As a note, if you are teaching in a public school setting, it is important that you comply with any relevant employment contracts and local district policies. We urge particular caution as it relates to making recommendations to students in your programs for required material, content, or products, as this practice is general prohibited by most policy guidelines. Read our Ethics Policy for more details.
